Business parks, village trails, and a city built for sitting
Irvine's villages do not share a body. Woodbridge and University Park are older loops and pools. Turtle Rock and Quail Hill have more grade. The Spectrum and the Great Park are newer and more spread out. The job, for a lot of patients, is a campus along Jamboree, Barranca, or the Irvine Business Complex: long meetings, a badge, and a walk that is only from the garage. Neck, upper back, and headache complaints often start there. Knee and hip complaints often start on the village trails people use to undo the job.
We do not treat Irvine as a single activity level. A cyclist on the San Diego Creek trail and a software lead who has not exercised since a move from Woodbridge need different exams. Neck pain and headaches are common desk presentations. Hip and SI pain shows up when someone adds mileage fast. Say which village and which campus.
South on the 5 or the 73 from Irvine
From central and north Irvine, I-5 south toward Mission Viejo is the simple drive. From the south villages and from many business parks, the 133 to the 73 toll road is often cleaner. About 12 miles. Twenty minutes is realistic off peak. Thirty-five is realistic when the 5 is slow through Lake Forest. The office is 26400 La Alameda, Suite 100, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. Building parking. Monday through Thursday, 9 to 6.
Irvine patients are used to efficient clinics. This one is deliberately less efficient. An exam takes time. If you need to be back on Jamboree for a meeting, book a morning visit and leave a buffer. Phone (949) 312-1754. The 20-minute consultation is the right first step if you are shopping for a style of care rather than ready for testing.
Desk symptoms and training symptoms, handled separately
Corrective exercise and DNS are how we retrain sitting and breathing patterns after the exam shows they matter. Chiropractic adjustments are used when a joint is not moving, not as a subscription. Carpal tunnel symptoms get a neck screen and a nerve exam, because a keyboard is not automatically the wrist.
The same city asks functional medicine questions: thyroid, burnout-style fatigue people want explained, and gut symptoms after years of desk lunches. Those are history-first visits. The hub page is the Irvine chiropractor page.
Insurance and coordination
Many Irvine employers offer HSA or FSA accounts. Those cards work here. We are still out of network and we still give a superbill rather than billing your plan directly. Lab work is quoted before it is ordered. We will not tell you to stop a medication from your Irvine physician.
Drs. Sani and Tara Kohen lead the clinic. Training details are on the about page. If you want to see the rehab gym before you drive the 5, use the office page.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is irritation of the median nerve at the wrist, often with night tingling in the thumb, index, and middle fingers and a grip that feels clumsy. The neck can refer similar symptoms and has to be screened. Neurodynamics and soft tissue work may help milder cases. Severe weakness or thenar wasting should also see a physician. The local page is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatment for Irvine.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is widespread pain with heightened sensitivity, alongside poor sleep, fatigue, and a mind that feels foggy. Functional Restoration Institute does not claim to cure it. Care may work on movement tolerance, a more stable sleep schedule, and pacing. Gut, hormone, or inflammation questions are opened only when your history actually points there. The local page is Fibromyalgia treatment for Irvine.
TMJ Dysfunction
Jaw pain, clicking, limited opening, and a related headache can come from the temporomandibular joint, the chewing muscles, or both. The neck and upper back often share the load. Clenching is a history question, not a character flaw. Dental causes, including the bite and the teeth, stay with your dentist. This clinic does not claim to fix an occlusion. The local page is TMJ Dysfunction treatment for Irvine.
Vertigo
Dizziness is not one symptom. Spinning vertigo, lightheadedness, and a cervical pattern are different, and a webpage cannot diagnose which one you have. Sudden neurologic signs belong in emergency care. Positional spinning is often treated with maneuvers by clinicians trained to do them. This clinic evaluates dizziness and coordinates when another specialty is the right next step. The local page is Vertigo treatment for Irvine.
Hormonal Imbalance
Hormone symptoms rarely live in one gland. Cycle changes, thin sleep, temperature swings, and uneven energy often reflect how sex hormones, cortisol, and thyroid signals interact. This page explains how those patterns are sorted, and why a dried urine map can answer a different question than a single morning blood draw. The local page is Hormonal Imbalance treatment for Irvine.
Thyroid Dysfunction
Thyroid trouble is not one feeling. A slow pace can leave you cold, heavy, and constipated. A fast pace can leave you hot, shaky, and awake at night. This page explains why a lone TSH result can miss the question you brought in, and what a fuller panel is built to show. The local page is Thyroid Dysfunction treatment for Irvine.
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune pattern in which immune activity is directed at thyroid tissue. Antibodies can be high while you still feel well, or symptoms can be loud. This page covers how that pattern is discussed, why gut questions are optional, and why antibody numbers are not a promise of reversal. The local page is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis treatment for Irvine.
Adrenal Fatigue
Many people arrive already using the phrase adrenal fatigue. What they usually describe is a stress pattern: wired at night, flat in the morning, and worn out by training. This page explains how that story is reviewed through a cortisol curve and your history, without treating the phrase as a formal diagnosis. The local page is Adrenal Fatigue treatment for Irvine.
Questions patients ask
How long from Irvine Spectrum or from Jamboree?
About 12 miles. From the Spectrum and south Irvine, the 133 to the 73 is often best. From central Irvine, I-5 south is straightforward. Plan 20 to 35 minutes to 26400 La Alameda, Suite 100, Mission Viejo.
I sit ten hours a day. Is this just posture advice?
No. Posture lectures without an exam are not the service. We test what your neck, mid back, and hips actually do, then give a small set of drills and, when it is indicated, hands-on care. The desk stays in the story because that is your sport.
Can you evaluate wrist pain that might be coming from my neck?
Yes. Carpal tunnel patterns and cervical referral can feel similar. The exam looks at both. Numbness with rapidly worsening weakness should also be discussed with a physician promptly.
Do you take insurance?
FRI is out of network. Superbills are provided and HSA/FSA cards are accepted. Call (949) 312-1754.
