Laguna Beach, CA · Orange County

Laguna Beach Chiropractor

Laguna Beach is a short, hilly trip from the clinic, about 12 miles and 20–35 minutes by Laguna Canyon or Crown Valley to 26400 La Alameda, Suite 100 in Mission Viejo. Patients come for unhurried exams with Drs. Sani and Tara Kohen across chiropractic, rehabilitation, and functional medicine.

Hills, stairs, and the village pace in Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is a walking town built on grades. Stairs at the beaches, the climb through the village, Top of the World, and the canyon roads ask for knees and hips in a way the flat coastal cities do not. Artists, shop owners, and people who work from a house on a ridge often stack that climbing with long sitting. We want the specific hill, not a generic activity level. A knee that hurts on the way down Thalia is a different test from a knee that hurts after a desk day in Irvine.

The same ridges affect recovery. If we give you a walking program, the walk available outside your door may be steeper than the walk we had in mind. Say so. Tourist season also changes driving and standing: people who work the village in summer spend more hours on their feet. That belongs in the history next to any plantar fascia or low back complaint.

Getting out of the canyon to Mission Viejo

From downtown Laguna, Laguna Canyon Road (133) meets the 73, and from there La Alameda is a short inland leg. From south Laguna, Crown Valley Parkway is often simpler. Either way the trip is about 12 miles. It can be 20 minutes when the canyon is clear and closer to 35 when beach traffic fills Coast Highway and the canyon. The office is 26400 La Alameda, Suite 100, Mission Viejo, CA 92691, Monday through Thursday, 9 to 6.

Do not plan to park downtown and rideshare the rest unless you enjoy it. Drive to the suite and use the building lot. If a visit has to sit around a gallery schedule or a school pickup in the village, book it that way rather than rushing the exam. The phone is (949) 312-1754. A complimentary 20-minute consultation is available before a full workup.

Problems Laguna patients actually bring in

Downhill walking and stairs show up as knee pain and hip or SI pain. Ocean swimming and paddling show up at the shoulder. Neck pain after the drive through the canyon is common enough that we separate it from jaw and headache problems. Headaches that start at the neck are evaluated as a movement problem. A sudden worst headache is an emergency, not a chiropractic visit.

Functional questions travel the canyon too. People ask about sleep, perimenopause, and food reactions in the same season they are trying to keep hiking. Those visits start with history. A thyroid panel or food sensitivity test is ordered when it would change the plan. The Laguna Beach chiropractor page is the city hub.

What you should expect from a visit, not a package

Hands-on care might include joint work, soft tissue, and a few exercises chosen from the exam. Joint mobilization is often a better fit than a forceful adjustment when a joint is irritable, which is common after a flare from stairs. Corrective exercise is the part you repeat on your own so the hill outside your house stops being a surprise.

Payment is out of network, with superbills and HSA/FSA cards accepted. We will not quote your reimbursement. That is between you and the plan. Drs. Sani and Tara Kohen share the practice. Read their training on the about page and look at the rooms on the office page if you want to know the building before you drive the canyon.

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis means a narrowed canal or opening, often producing leg symptoms that limit walking and ease when you sit or lean forward. Extension is frequently a sensitive direction. Circulation problems can look similar and belong with a physician. Flexion-biased movement, mobilization, and conditioning may help. Surgery remains a surgeon's decision. Rotator Cuff Injuries

Rotator cuff injuries here means overload or strain of the tendons that steer and stabilize the shoulder, not an automatic surgical label. A painful lifting arc and true weakness are the clinical clues. A tear on an MRI does not, by itself, require an operation. Care builds tendon load gradually, treats irritable tissue, and restores scapular control. The local page is Rotator Cuff Injuries treatment for Laguna Beach.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, is a capsular problem that moves through painful, stiff, and thawing stages. Forcing range usually flares it. Care uses gentle joint mobilization, motion that respects pain, and scapular or DNS work so the whole shoulder girdle is not abandoned. Diabetes is associated for some people and is not treated on this page. The local page is Frozen Shoulder treatment for Laguna Beach.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is irritation of the median nerve at the wrist, often with night tingling in the thumb, index, and middle fingers and a grip that feels clumsy. The neck can refer similar symptoms and has to be screened. Neurodynamics and soft tissue work may help milder cases. Severe weakness or thenar wasting should also see a physician. Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is widespread pain with heightened sensitivity, alongside poor sleep, fatigue, and a mind that feels foggy. Functional Restoration Institute does not claim to cure it. Care may work on movement tolerance, a more stable sleep schedule, and pacing. Gut, hormone, or inflammation questions are opened only when your history actually points there. The local page is Fibromyalgia treatment for Laguna Beach.

TMJ Dysfunction

Jaw pain, clicking, limited opening, and a related headache can come from the temporomandibular joint, the chewing muscles, or both. The neck and upper back often share the load. Clenching is a history question, not a character flaw. Dental causes, including the bite and the teeth, stay with your dentist. This clinic does not claim to fix an occlusion. Questions patients ask

Which way should I drive from Laguna Beach?

From the village, Laguna Canyon Road to the 73 is the usual route. From south Laguna, Crown Valley Parkway is often easier. Expect about 12 miles and 20 to 35 minutes to 26400 La Alameda, Suite 100, Mission Viejo.

My house is all stairs. Can the home plan account for that?

Yes. Tell us about the grade and the stairs on the first visit. A flat walking goal that ignores a Laguna ridge is not a useful prescription. We would rather scale the drill to the hill you actually live on.

Do you treat headaches that start after I drive the canyon?

We evaluate neck-related headaches and separate them from headaches that need urgent medical care. A thunderclap headache, a new neurologic symptom, or headache after significant trauma should go to the emergency department.

Are you in network if I live in Laguna Beach?

No. FRI is out of network and provides a superbill. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds. Call (949) 312-1754 to ask about the consultation.
